A quick post… Rough day at work, so I went out for one of my favorite runs near my house. From the Park Avenue green straight up Jordan Lane, across Maple Street to the dirt road extension between the cemeteries and up to the quarry.
It’s a bit of a climb right out of the gate, but the view is definitely worth it. You can see Hartford over the quarry, and the Metacomet ridge line out to the west. I love that I can now identify the radio towers and other landmarks along the ridge now. (All right boys, that’s enough of a break from the trail – let’s get out there and do leg 5! Maybe next weekend?) I recall coming out here a couple months back, and it really changes over the seasons. Guess all the plants really appreciated all the rain we got this week – it’s a jungle out here!
Also, it was a great picture day! Wish I could’ve brought the SLR instead of the iPhone.
Oh yeah – great article on ESPN today. Ooohhh, so quotable – let’s see. Here’s a teaser for you:
“This is a highly problematic issue with athletes, one that dares not speak its name,” he says. “On some level, athletes whom this happens to are seen as engaging in a form of cultural deviance.”

PRO TIP: On a completely different note, avoid running on an empty stomach in populated areas around 5 pm in the summer. Can’t tell you how many grilled meats I smelled on the way back. Going to get something to eat now…
