Got the opportunity to do a little “vacation” run today in beautiful Ridgefield. Started out up Main Street from the West Lane Inn where we stayed. Nice wide sidewalks with a ton of old shade trees and beautiful old houses.
Decided to give the rail trail a shot. Only a couple miles, and no bikes allowed! Really? Is prohibiting bikes necessary? Overall, a pretty boring trail under some major utility lines. And who the hell let their kid plant that bamboo shoot they got at mall? That crap is everywhere! Worse than kudzu.
So, I passed on simply doubling back to the hotel. Decided to lope over to Weir Farm, CT’s only park in the National Park system. The park itself was beautiful, but getting there included a soul crushing hill climb up Old Branchville and Nod Hill. Also, if you go, avoid the yellow “trail”. They haven’t gotten around to cleaning it up after last fall’s storms. Blue trail looks awesome, but I was running out of gas – it would’ve pushed my mileage over 10 for the day, and I think we may be doing Leg 3 tomorrow morning.
All in all, a great vacation run. And if you go, hit up the Little Pub in Branchville. Excellent blogging location if your spouse is still at her conference!
Um, really? You thought banks were so classy you decided to live in one?

Live in a bank? Duh, thats where the money is dummy. Sounds like a cool run, exploring an area through running is great, slow enough to take everything in, but fast enough to cover alot of ground.
